Calling all anglers on the North Island, there is going to be a meeting at the Quaste River Stewardship Center on April 6 th at 7 pm. There is going to be speakers from the BC Sportsfishing Coalition outlining the challenges to the sport fishery in BC.

If sport fishing matters to you or your business you need to make your voice heard by decision makers at DFO and at the political level.

Spread the word to everyone.

Thanks

Just an update, we surprised Mr. John Duncan this morning in Port Hardy with a halibut protest and caught him totally off gaurd. He was in Port Hardy opening up his campaign office and we got wind of his arrival early this morning via this website, thanks Sushihunter! The North Island Anglers Association had a great showing, more protesters than supporters. He did not have much to say on the halibut issue only stating that he can not comment on what was happening but they were working on a solution., bla, bla, bla!

Let's keep the ball rolling on this one guys, it's not about conservation it's about allocation! The election is just around the corner,

EXCELLENT WORK BearCove!

Great meeting last night, was well attended by a vast group of local anglers in both the salt and fresh water communities, even had reps from the FN bands there looking to help on our behave. Looking forward to the next meeting and really get the ball rolling up here on the North Island

Cmon Holmes, quit beating around the bush and tell us how you really feel about him ;-)
LMAO

its a public forum so i cant post exactly how i feel, lol, lets just say that the three guys i was playing pool against last nite know exactly how i feel, lol, when i described how i actually felt i thought their eyes were going to pop outta their heads, lmao.....holmes*

To be a fly on the a wall :)

Good show guys. This whole Halibut thing really backfired on them. Looks to me like the commies and DFO totally misjudged what can happen when you kick a sleeping pitbull. Great to see anglers all over getting organized and banding together to fight for the public fishery. Get em.:p

There was another North Island Anglers association meeting last night in Port Hardy. It was very poorly attended and I am not quite sure why. Are the local salt and fresh water fishermen not that worried about what DFO is doing to both of these fisheries? Whether it be enhancement for steelhead, funding for hatcheries, or this halibut issue this association is there to benefit all of the anglers on the North Island. These guys that are putting their time and effort to protect what we all take for granted and need some help. I dont think popping into a meeting for a couple hours once or twice a month is much to ask in my opinion. Especially when these guys have our best interests in mind and are trying to make sure we all have equal opportunity to fish in the future.

Feel free to contact me with any question or information on future meetings at 250-949-7939

Thanks guys and hoping to see a bunch more of you at the next meeting with all your buddies in tow
