Nootka regs

Just me or did DFO remove the map and detail for Chinook/Coho regulations? Doesn't seem like there are really any posted regulations right now.

Anyone have a link or info on what to expect?

I'm guessing they will get posted in a week or so. I think the same thing happened last year. I can't find them either. Given they've made changes at Nootka the maps will look different I am told...

They always release the day or two before the season starts in July. Probably pretty safe saying esperenza will be one over one under again. Hoping it the same as two years ago.

I'm confused! I will be fishing in esperanza and nootka from June 26 - July 2nd. Do I follow last years regs and maps?

just trying to keep it all together.... Howard

hi barkerfam, the regs are still there in printed form just the area maps have been removed so you will have to read and understand the printed form.

Howard, everything is the same as last year until July 15th. That's when the new regulations will apply for this year.

By the looks of it after July 15th the one mile boundary from Dolly's cove to Beano will be removed. Along with Discovery Pt to Escalante Pt will be open along the shore.

So they over 77cm rule will be gone at the light house? Would a guy keep trolling around towards Escalante Pt when you are at Burwood? Can't wait to get up there hope you have a good early season Mike. Thanks B

The 77 cm rule applied at the Lighthouse last year from July 15th to Oct 15 if my recollection is correct. Prior to July15 it was two Chinook per day, minimum size 45 cm (unless otherwise specified). I haven't seen the new regs, but, rumors are that it could be one over and one under 77 cm post July 15th. We will find out in a couple of weeks.....

Just like the south Island they will let you know the day before the 15th so you can plan your trips accordingly.

Ferrer will close 15 july
Please excuse a newbie to the Esperanza Inlet but am I to understand that UNTIL 15 July, the new map does not apply? We can fish at Ferrer Pt and other areas within the one mile boundary and we can keep 2 springs as long as they are over 45 cm?

Addendum, looking at the DFO's map of Esperanza Inlet, those areas (25-13, 25, and 125-3) that I plan on fishing June 27 to July 2 are indeed open on those dates and the limit is 2 springs, minimum 45 cm, and coho's are 2 per day BUT must be hatchery (clipped dorsal fin)?

I see new maps out for chinook in area's 25, 26, 27... etc. just wondering if there will be changes to coho or new maps for coho? trying to get that figured out.
