New Docks Going in the Bay Of San Juan

It should be very interesting how long these new docks last at the old break water. I see the first big swell taking the docks out, but we will see.

Are they actually going in now? I had heard there were some delays this year, so was iffy.

Yeah, will be some question marks about weather and maybe about river current? That seems to be a very unprotected location. They need a big mofo breakwater.

Well two trucks loaded with docks and a crane truck we will see, but thats what they are planing. **** Show

That sounds like dock building! I assume the pilings are in place already?

"Interesting" times out there. I sometimes moor my boat here in Sooke, a very protected dock from westerlies, but the north-easterlies blow right down the harbour and the boat bounces like crazy. On those nights, there's not a lot of sleep worrying about what's going on down there with the wind whistling. I wonder if it will be the same there? Closer to fishing grounds, but sure seems exposed. Flat surf usually from April to Sept. Except when it isn't ... what will happen on those freak swells?

Can't see them lasting past june unless they dosomething with the breakwater. Let us know when they start Wellsy.

Are they thinking of putting in a year around dock there? Or, just a summer dock, or floats?

I anchor that area often in the summer. Not only does it get very crowded in that SMALL pocket, at times with just a few other boats anchoring. I have found if you swing to far out on anchor you are subject to to pick up some of that swell action.

They are advertising there cabins with moorage, we'll see what they come up with. Hope they have lots of insurance, could be some beach salvage work coming up.
