New dock

Has anybody used the new dock and boat launch in Port Alice and have pictures of it??
How is parking for a week??

I haven't fished out of Port Alice, but will be in the area this summer. Is it far from the launch to decent fishing grounds?

About the same run as from Coal Harbour. 1 hourish to Cliffe Point, Kains Lights. Other points are further on into the open.

I would like to try this area this year also. Is the one hour run pretty calm shelter water? Is there any narrow to avoid on certain tides? At WH is there some inshore waters or mostly all open ocean

Salmon University covers Quatsino Sound pretty well. http://www.salmonuniversity.com/vin_quatsino_sound.html

Check your marine charts, there is one area of shoals/small islands on the run out near Drake Island. Look for the area of small Islands between Drake and the southern shore of the inlet on Google Earth. Big Freighters go to Port Alice so the Channels are well marked. Weather is typical of any inlet with afternoon inflow winds. It will be snotty mid afternoon into the evening, but doable coming in, in a following sea. It will not be as doable heading out late in the day. Inshore and Offshore spots to fish.

I will try to get some pics up tomorrow. It is built with sure float sections, six slips and the cleaning table got bolted down late in the season.

Parking has not changed there is room for about a dozen truck/trailer at the launch and about the same across the street, the over flow is about 500 meters north of the launch.

moorage is 0.85 per foot per day

last year they started to charge for launch, 10 dollars or 60 dollars for the year. I believe parking is covered in the launch fees but I am not sure.
