As of June 1 the new regs go into effect for crossing the border into Canada and Mexico. Here's a couple of links that deal with the subject:

Bottomline is you will need either a passport or an approved document from the WHTI list. You will no longer get back across the border with a driver license and birth certificate.
Those traveling to BC to fish this summer better get on it.
