Never heard of this one before?

I was reading an Alaskan fishing forum and came across this statement.

"If you take strong prescriptions (blood pressure, pain meds, etc), please do not handle the bait, lures or other tackle tied to the fishing line. Salmon have a very keen sense of smell and things like this can put them off your bait."

Is this seriously valid, or is this more akin to the superstitious guys who won't permit bananas aboard their boat?

I take Rampril daily/have for ages and my catch rate never changed.

Well I'm glad to hear that from most guys. I'm on a high BP meds, and serious pain killers for my back. The way the fishing is around here this year it's had me questioning everything about what's going on. I just finished a total rewire of the backend of my boat because I was worried a flakey bilge pump was throwing a charge into my aluminum hull. I mean hey, it's better to have a newer 100% reliable bilge pump installed, but what's next. A season like this locally just really makes you question if there's something affecting your catch rate. I know it's just paranoia because most guys can't find a fish for their life unless they're running across the strait right now. Hope things improve soon, I'd hate to have to resort to wearing nitrile gloves, with an aluminum shielded hat because the paranoia had gotten to me.
