Need a sooke boat for Saturday

After 2 boat engines blowing up and a 3rd guy not being able to skipper after all, I am looking for someone to take me out on Saturday for the Consultants Invitational fishing derby - it is a private event, but if you can supply your boat (preferably larger than 16 so I don't need to worry much about the wind), we can supply $100 to cover gas etc, and you get a ticket to the event - it's no JDF, but we have some great prizes donated:

and we will have Smoken Bones catering the event with another chef bbq'ing salmon and corn on the cob (at Peddar Bay), + a live jazz/blues band, and free beer (yes, free beer). It's made up of civil engineers in town, product suppliers, city workers (on the engineering side) etc etc with proceeds going to Sooke Salmon Enhancement. Every ticket gets a prize.

Fill me in, here or email - I'm a diehard, so daybreak fishing preferred, and I have all my own gear so you don't need anything extra on your end to supply. Cheanuh or Peddar obviously most ideal launch given the event at Peddar.

hmm, had that experience with boat #2 that fell through...went to pick up engine from shop and the guy hadn't even started it...are you sure it will be ready - I would certainly like to firm it up now and not wait until Friday for confirmation? What about a Cheanuh or Peddar launch? That would be preference. Thoughts?

It is on a trailer so you could launch anywhere. engine has 300 hours on it so I am not expecting any issues, it was just getting a general going over. But I will have to show up at the mechanics door tomorrow to get an answer apparently...and will report back asap for you.

Howdy Deewar 25, Is the derby a one or two day event? If its a one dayer I am interested, but only if Poe cannot make it! Also how many people are in your party. I have a 21 foot covered Glasply, moored out of Beacher Bay. Iam a regular Sooke fisherman. Cheers FC.

Sounds like a good offer. If I was going to be in town I would take ya. That's about $100 more for gas than most of my friends cover. LOL!

It is just the one day event (weigh in from 12-2:30) - more a social than a hardcore fishing event (although we will all be gunning for the guy that won the Bite Me....) I'll drop Poe an email and see where he's at with this.

Just to make it even more inviting - Deewar25 is a nice guy and a fine fisherman on top of it. He even came close outfishing me on my own boat recently!

Thanks for the offers between here and email...I'll wait and see on FC up to tonight and if no response, I'll move to the next! The moored Cheanuh made most sense to me and I certainly have preference to some cover as the weather gods keep screwing around with the forecast. Mentioned this to Poe and he said he'll take me out for a different occasion....forgot to mention, it SHOULD just be me...slim chance another guy as well.

By the way Deewar, I'll be trailering my boat so we can launch at Cheanuh no problem. I normally do anyways but have been using Jocks in Sooke last few weeks to concentrate more on the Secretary Is. area.

In the event we don't hook up, good luck, and we'll see you on the water.
