Navionics app on my phone or Big Wave Dave Piper's Cam. VHF weather channel too.

Thanks Chromatose, had no idea which BWD forecast to check out.....I guess pipers lagoon is the one to watch?

For Nanaimo use the pipers webcam. For live wind conditions look at entrance island and if you are fishing north of the fingers then have a look at ballenas island and compare.

Ok, so I'm getting the live cam info but is there any good wind forecast? Will be travelling from Victoria so need to have an idea on conditions prior to daylight. Not looking to bust into anyone's hood just like to fish different areas.

This is a very accurate by the hour wind forecast strength and direction. You can click on any hour or change the date.
We used it on a trip up the inside passage to Alaska and found it very accurate. You can customize to your own taste as well

In addition to suggestions above I use the app - FishWeather. It's free and pretty awesome IMO. Shows most weather stations and you can get hourly forecasts for a week out (obviously the further out the poorer the forecast). check it out. Between Navioncis, Shralptide and Fishweather, you should be good to go for fishing/boating apps.

Big Wave Dave doesn't just have webcams...it has Predicted Winds One and Predicted Winds Two.....both hourly day by day.
