Hey all, looking to get up to Nanaimo area with some friends for some salmon and trout on the long weekend. Plan is to try our hand in the Nanaimo River and then hop around between some of the nearby lakes. We're all pretty inexperienced anglers but have had some fun catching stocked rainbows in the Victoria area lakes this summer and looking for something different. I've done a good deal of research regarding regs in terms of bait bans and whatnot but was hoping for some advice on techniques for the river and which areas to avoid due to crowds or lack of fish. Also open to suggestions of places to fish but not expecting anyone to give away their spots (my messages are open if you're feeling generous though).
