Pretty stoked my girlfriend bought me a new ported mr3 in blue for my 40th B-day..i love this girl :),looking for suggestions for a sweet rod to match up with this reel, I fish by myself alot so thinking a mooching rod no longer then 10 foot, let the season begin :)IMG_3479[1].jpg

Nice reel Jeffy........I have two Blue Ported MR3's. Great Reels and the porting hasn't caused any issues for me in four seasons. I have quite a few rods that I have paired with them at times but mostly use them with 10'6" HMX's. But......you will find this is a loaded question and I'm sure there will be as many HMX haters as MR3 haters? lol :) There are lots of good candidates for a good rod for an excellent reel........

WOW!......that didn't take long! lol And while you are at it call up the threads on MR3 line creep......

I like the HMX's as well.....in saying that I just added a couple of Technium's to the arsenal and they're great. One thing I do like about the Tech's over my HMX's is the rounded butt on them. They may have been some special ones that Derby had but it is much more comfy than the 'squared' end on the HMX'S that I have.

Not worried about linecreep as i have found a fix for it, Also my girlfriend is a keeper and i am not returning this reel, if it works as good as they say i will be adding another for the other side of the boat. i have never used a mr3 before but did expierience line creep using a mr2.

Don't listen to ReelSlim...he's just happy to be on the water and out of that wasteland in Alberta. :p You could give him a Barbie or Fisher Price fishing set up and he'd be ecstatic. ;)

Fish Technium's hard and so far pretty good rods. I personally don't like the convergence but our other guide loves them, so personal opinion on them I think.

Just returned from the frozen wasteland myself..the things we do for money.., Been researching reels for a long time will have to see how it pans out. it is not always about having the best of everything , but making the most of everything i have found...

9'6" fetha stix. Down rigger model.. Mine are blue too!!

Saweet, who makes the fetha stix?, dropping it off for spooling this morning muahaha... only home for 10-12 days but im jonesin to put a bottom dweller or Halibut on the line :)

Convergence or Technium depending how much you want to spend I have one on each side. Just finished my 3rd season with my mr3 zero reel creep. Thinking mr2 next so I can jig with it only have a 17ft boat not much room for extra rods.

Trophy titans are really nice. Picked up a couple late in the season. We use the hmx for the top rods when stacking.

Jeff
I have the same reel paired with a convergence and like it a lot; as for line creep on the reel it is minimal and depends on how tight you like you tip to the water but you won't even notice it. My brother in law has a technium rod and I find it a little stiffer Than my convergence but that is me. You will love the reel and pair it with what you want and like.

Thanks F.A. n Karma-kazi, pretty stoked, going to the Keg for dinner and then out for some drinks at the Queens :P start rod shopping on monday i guess, was looking at a few today but more research to be done.

After takin into consideration a few things i picked up a rod for my new reel this morning at chandler, decided to go with a Titan by trophy xl , it is definately alot more rod/reel then i ever have owned so i hope it stands up to the test of time.A few of the selling points for me were the 9' length ceramic eyes and double Aluminium locking rings for the reel, hopefully if it ever breaks i will still have my islander in my hand :)IMG_3491.jpgIMG_3492.jpg
