Is there a recommended life span for a Mustang Floater Suit? Does age have any effect on the deterioration of the foam flotation performance in side a floater suit? Or any PFD for that matter? I have a pair of Mustang floater suits that are 12-15 years old, their still in good shape. Was just wondering if their is a recommended life span? I tried to e-mail Mustang regarding my question but have not received a reply yet.. http://www.mustangsurvival.com/index.php
Was just wondering if any one here knows more information on this?

Products should be examined each year or whenever there is reason to question the safety provided. Review the product using the following garment condition indicators:

• Buoyancy - Test the product in a controlled in-water situation. Ensure an observer is monitoring and that the test is conducted in a calm water environment. A well-functioning personal flotation device’s (PFD) buoyancy should keep your head safely out of the water.
• Foam Liners - Check shoulder and sleeve areas for separation or slippage
• Seams - Inspect seams to ensure they are not separating, tearing or fraying
• Zippers - Movement should be easy and have good overall condition
• Fasteners - Snaps, buckles and Tug-Tites® should all be in good working order
• Improper Storage - Mold or mildew should not be present and storage in a compressed state or near heat may indicate damage
• UV Damage – Indicated by significant discoloration or bleaching that weakens the exposed materials

Products that indicate failure in any of these areas are not in proper condition and must be repaired or replaced.

I find it depends on use (commercial or recreational), how it's been stored, if it has been cleaned how often and how was it cleaned. I have worn out a few Mustang floater jackets and cruiser suits and noticed the foam starts detoriating first in the cuffs, shoulders and around the knees. I would think after 12 - 15 years of regular use it is probably time to replace.
