was watching a documentary on Chinook and coho feeding in bait balls. I noticed that after they swim into a bait ball they slap the crap out of the bait with there tail then come back around and grab the chovys that are swimming all krippled up and bleeding from the gills. This is my attempt at trying to copy this . The thought is using baitrex so I can put a krippled bend in it and make it look like blood coming out of the gills. Just wondering what the pros thought are on it.

I like the looks of that Buzzbomb, maybe with real bait though.Let us know if it works for you.

Man this is funny ! I was just thinking of trying something similar, using a few strands of red Mylar trailing the tail, mimicking a bloodstream. I'm in Vancouver right now going to John Prine concert, but instead thinking about fishing! Looks good to me. Might a bit thick. What about a couple of long sparse strands originating from the gills and trailing behind the anchovy?

I sometimes tie red wool or strips of red cloth to my jigging lures at the hook end. I add scent to the cloth which holds way better than smearing on the lure surface.

I know it's not the same thing as you did, but I thought I'd mention it because with an artificial lure the addition of scent can make a big difference.

Looks good, hope you have success with it. I think the addition of pink or red helps most any lure. Blood is obviously a trigger for any Predator looking for an easy meal on injured prey.

Looks good. Too many dogfish in the area I fish right now to try. I might exchange the red hook for a silver hook (modified) with one black prong in order to disguise the hook, or two singles. Wondering if you tied a couple of those red strands from the hook.

Rod Sullivan used to tie a couple of red strands from a Hootchie to his front hook on the tandem set up.

The strands probably won't affect the action, so it probably doesn't do any harm. Switching from the treble to 2 singles will improve the action when trying to achieve a slow roll & result in more hook-ups. I have tried many variations on hooks over the last 30 years & the 2 singles fish the best - probably use 4/0 for what you have shown. FYI I prefer a slower action than that specified in the bait head instructions.
