'Swamp People' star dies on Louisiana river

Mitchell Guist, who rose to national attention as one-half of the grizzled, alligator-hunting Guist Brothers on History's popular reality show, "Swamp People," has died, Louisiana police have confirmed.
According to a statement made by Sheriff Mike Waguespack to WBRZ-TV Baton Rouge, the incident occurred about 9 a.m. Monday. Guist was cruising along the Belle River when he reportedly "fell" in his boat after having suffered what appeared to be a seizure. Attempts at reviving Guist through CPR were unsuccessful.
 
Too bad, I liked the show and often wondered about those two.........are they for real............much like "Chumlee" on "Pawn Stars"
 
Damn...that's awful.....I love that show and all the people on it.


Thing's I noticed on that show:-

(1) Air-cooled outboards (used in some episodes).......think they're made by Vanguard?.......never seen those up here.

(2) How do those boats hold that much weight in 'gators without sinking?

(3) "Hand-bombing" an 800lb alligator? with your bare hands?.....I get a 20lb Ling on and I have trouble getting THAT in the boat sometimes.......

My number one favorite line from that show:- Troy Landry shouting " Shoot 'im, Elizabeth!!!!"

I think those air cooled outboards are called Go-Devils. That is the one wth the prop on the end of a straight shaft, designed for running in shallow or swamps.
Definitely tricky shooting a thrashing 800lb gator at the side of your boat.
