We got out to Bella Bella Tues. June 23 for a few days of fishing. Not very many people out yet. Big rain and occasional big winds. Idol Point was not producing for anyone at that time so we headed out to Milbank Sound. What was interesting was within 5 minutes of setting up we caught an 11 lb. coho. That is a very large coho for June. We see them a lot heavier than that but not until Aug. or even early Sept. I am cautiously optimistic for this season. We then caught 2 little springs (20s) all within about 1 hr. I think we would have had a very good day but a gale warning had been issued and we were getting blown off the water so we had to leave and head in. We headed south for Namu and fished the Burke for 1 1/2 days and then headed home. We picked up 2 halibut and a couple of ground fish in the narrows. No lodge boats out yet in Hakai. Word is most will be set up by July 7.
Note: Shearwater gas dock closes at 5:00 p.m. $20. call-out (per boat)fee after that. No gas at Namu yet. Plan accordingly.
