Mercury has added their extended warranty promo plus a factory rebate through March 31. I am pulling the trigger today on mine, they say in-stock inventory so ideally they have what I'm after.

That’s what I got on my mercs I bought this time last year.
What is it you’re going for. The 300 or the 350.

Magik 8 ball says 300 V8 seapro unless there's some sort of crazee boatshow deal on the v10. Waiting on final quotes now but its gonna happen this week.

I actually think the 300 v8 with the big wheel is plenty of midrange torque for my boat. I am not looking for topend at all as where I boat its a mine field of debris.

Boat is almost out of gelcoat jail.

Buddy runs a 26 Hourston (old forum members boat) with the old L6 merc and it's enough to guide wcvi. The v8 would be much better midrange range than the L6. I'd go V8 over the v10 if going with a single.

Ya right on, its a single for sure, and I agree. I appreciate the feedback for sure. Im all about displacement but I have it in my head the v10 350 might be too much for that boat, I think they brought these out as twin and beyond solutions for bigger boats while the 300 v8 is the sweet spot for mine.

The only other point I struggled with was the full electric steering over hydro with the kicker but I have a huge booster so if I don’t charge the batteries fully on the run out ill boost it. Go big or go home type of deal happening here it seems.

Good choice, electric steering is so good. I wouldn't go back to hydraulic after using it.

Genuinely curious how you can stomach such a big purchase knowing fishing could be a completely different game if this new legislation goes through?

A single tied to a kicker turns pretty easy on a 1.7 helm. Simple and reliable. With big twins and kicker I am a bit more on the fence. I'm sticking with standard hydraulic for the twin v8 instal.

same way i can buy several boats without a fishing rod on any of them - i dont fish. boats are vehicles. for going places. just because one tiny government regulation goes through doesnt mean anything unless they ban you from owning a boat. or a mercury motor.
no one stopped buying cars just because regulation forces them to have seatbelts and SRS .even though i grumble at being forced to sit in front of an explosive device instead of the much safer racing harness, roll cage, helmet and racing bucket seat alternative i still buy cars.

We settled on full digital / eclectic steering. I've been using ezsteer connected to my stupid VP duo prop so I feel like a caveman crawling out of the swamp for the first time.

Oh ya, no tarrifs in sight either.

The majority of people on this forum use their boat primarily for fishing. If the new regulations go through as proposed, it will essentially end recreational fishing in this province

Well, lets hope everyone here has taken the 10 minutes to make their concerns known. Email:

DFO.SAPReviewBC-PASRevueBC.MPO@dfo-mpo.gc.ca

If you don't vote (write the email), you've got no right to complain about the outcome if it's not favorable...

Then we all become "sustenance fishers"

This thread is only to direct the attention of any other lunatics like me who might need to repower their boat towards a mercury promotion to save a few bucks.

Don't take this the wrong way but I am not interested in taking this thread in any other direction.
7yrs and no tarrifs Awesome!!

in shorts with no shirt on than whatever cold rainy hell BC is going thru this week.

imagine your new mercury motor out here instead of sitting in your garage getting lonely.
P.S. tons of fish out here with no fishing regulations whatsoever. and you can sit around with no quota 13 miles out from land for weeks catching fish.
