Merc saltwater series

Anybody have any experience with the 125hp 2 + 2 ?
Runs on 2 cylinders at low rpm's and kicks in all 4
at higher rpm's.

is it a new or used motor?
if there not makign them anymore theres probly a reason for it,
boat engines have enough going wrong with them before you add dropping and adding pistons to to equation..
good idea though just dont think it would be a flawless set up

still in production as far as i know....
they are the counterpart to the "optimax" 2 stroke

Had a set of twin 115's like that on a guide boat. One of the sleeves lifted in one of the blocks. Mercury fixed it for free though. They seemed to troll fine on 2, but perhaps that was what led to the problem?
