Maxima Ultragreen...Not.....

Well that's strange...while checking out some tackle with a Blacklight, I shone it on a spool of Maxima Ultragreen 30lb leader in total darkness.....changed from it's normal color to a light red.

Guess that's what the fish are seeing..........red leader........

Then tried it on other spools of Maxima UltraGreen.....same thing.

Now it's got me curious to see what all my other mono lines are showing up as in blacklight UV.

I use maxima for everything except tuna. I catch fish. Interesting tho.

Picture's a little blurry... camera acts up under blacklight for some reason....

Isn't red one of the colours of the spectrum most easily absorbed by water. Maybe they are seeing very little?

As long as they're seeing my lure and hitting it, I guess that's all that counts really...Lord knows what they are actually seeing down there....:D

Seafever you are amazing - keep up the good work as your continuous testing and experimenting along with your obvious enthusiasm is not only interesting to read but also what makes a great fisherman - attention to detail! keep up the interesting work and ideas that come from all your posts

Top one is a Yellowtail

Middle is a KitchenSink

Bottom one is a Zurtro Cop Car...but he puts a UV finish on those spoons....so I guess that's why it goes blue instead of staying black....must be the autofocus on camera gets messed up in blacklight.....sorry for blur..... (The Zurtro Cop car and Kitchen sink:- as soon as I shut the light off and take them back out into daylight, the top part goes back to black)

Now i am interested to see what the red fishing line looks like under that same light.

I've never placed red line under light but do know it is the first color lost under water. Personally, I use only Cajun Line in 17, 30 & 50lb varieties. I love it; been using it since I was out catching those hard fighting flathead catfish along the Chattahoochie and Altahama rivers. Those river cats can fight harder than other fish. I've even fished gators with Cajun Line. The red color of Cajun Line does not deter fish at all.

It's no good. I'd better dispose of it for you
