Here now, fishing just getting started.Slow at present time, teens low twenties being picked up but no numbers yet.Weather is great, winds light, lodges just opening up so report will improve I hope, stay tuned!

Latest today is a few fish a boat, weather is nice. The boys are working Seven Mile and still spotty.Still waiting for Chinook fishing to heat up.

I am here for the summer...have not started myself, but did cruise the dock in town today. Looks like some springs are around, almost all in the mid teens. Five or six fish a boat for a days work....wind is screaming west northwest so a tad bumpy but sunny!

Nice to hear the fish are in as I'm going to be up there in a week.
Keep your eyes open for a north river seahawk with the operater being
bossed around by a old man in the co pilots seat. I'm taking my dad up
for a little spring and halibut fishing( as well as putting a new deck on the place ...
but he doesn't know that yet :D )

Have you heard if people are getting crabs up on north beach yet??
I sure hope so as I've got a serious hunger on! Nothing better than
eating fresh crab and beers until you can't barely stand up !!!!

Nice place to spend the summer , you must be guiding for one of the lodges up there eh ?

Scott

Not to much to report today, sunny but screaming northwest winds, makes the fishing grounds bumpy....still seeing mostly fish in the teens, largest taken that I have heard about is 42 lbs....as stated though, chinook in the teens to low twenties and lots of wind.

Weather awesome today, wind died down.Rumors are flying about a mid 60s taken at Langara, otherwise fish are mostly in the teens. Did see a couple mid twenties in the Bird Rk area, not a lot of boat traffic. Will keep you posted!

Weather & Conditions

Guests have been enjoying beautiful weather these past few days, with sunny skies, light northerly winds and calm waters. Forecast is calling for more of the same, with scattered clouds expected by Thursday.

Fishing Report

Fishing has been very productive this past trip. Boats have been spread out and salmon have been taken from pretty much everywhere. Bait is also being found all around the island. The most productive spots have been Cohoe Point and Boulder Point.

The 19th Annual Haida Gwaii Tournament finishes today, with over $150,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. Top prize is $75,000 for the largest salmon. At Monday noon, the current leader is Heath Ellingham with a 26+ pound chinook, which is a very beatable weight.

Although most guests are focusing on salmon, a few nice halibut have also been caught. The previous trip featured productive fishing for halibut off the north side of Langara Island.

Overshadowing the excitement of the Haida Gwaii, a non-tournament contestant caught and released a salmon that was measured to be over 68 pounds!!! Too bad he wasn’t entered.

All guests arriving today are contestants in our Spring Salmon Showdown – the lucky guest who catches the largest chinook salmon before the first day of summer will win a return trip for 2 in 2010. The current leader is 41 pounds.

Wildlife

Both humpback and killer whales have been sighted around the Island this week, lots of Bald Eagles and sea birds feeding on baitfish, and the local family of river otters playing around the Langara docks.

FRIDAY!!!

I fish a group 4:30 am till 12:30, drop my boat and fish at the dock, climb in the truck and OUTTA HERE!!

See you about dinner time Chris.

Any other reports?

Gimee the gaff!!!

Powder, good reports keep'em coming!,what lodge are you at? Or are you running your own show? Heard of a grandson, grandfather combo that just got back from a trip with Escott Sportfishing out of Masset and hit lots of fish in the 25lb range. I would kill to have one more trip to Edinshaw(wrong spelling), very pretty spot, good fishing too!

Well, fishing is good at Langara, details coming in today of a 64lb chinook taken at Coho point. Lots of mid twenties taken with guided boats hitting double digit chinooks on a half day charter. Lots of bait showing all along top end of Graham Island, looks like a better June fishery for sure.
