For my “new-to-me” boat, it currently has a Panther kicker steering system. I’m not happy with it, so I’m planning to change it to a Lowrance autopilot. The boat has a 2013 Mercury Verado 200hp with a 15hp Mercury kicker.
I searched this group and saw that one of our members has already done this setup. I also spoke with Lowrance tech support, and they advised me to match the pump output (in cubic inches) to the Mercury Verado pump output. They said the Lowrance Pump 1 isn’t suitable for my Verado since it only handles 14 cubic inches, and recommended Pump 2 instead.
What’s your experience with this integration? Did Pump 1 work for you? I’ll also be ordering the Lowrance Verado fitting kit. Can the autopilot run while the Mercury pump is on? I assume it just requires a larger battery?
