My chartplotter tends to be fuzzy when I start it up every morning. The picture on the screen tends to bounce around and flicker alot. Sometimes it even turns to black and fades out completely. However when the unti warms up the screen tends to stabilize and is fine for the rest of the day.

Any suggestions as to why this happens?

Sounds like a component starting to fail. You might have some moisture intrusion also/instead.

I'd get it looked at soon.

No point in getting it looked at, they don't repair them. They all seem to be through away units these days once they act up. With newer units (off warranty) they will charge you $500 to replace with new.

I get the same problem with my vision after a hard night drinking!
