lower mainland moorage

We are wanting to cruise over from Nanaimo to visit some relatives this summer. They are in the Coquitlam/Pitt Meadows area. I can't find any marinas in the Burrard inlet other than Reed Point, and they don't take transient boaters. Is False Creek the closest I'm going to get?

Thanks,

Dan

Have you checked with Mosquito Creek or any of the marinas on the North Shore?

I am not even sure what marinas in False Creek take transient boaters?

North Shore is an option, but I'm trying to find something as close to Pitt Meadows I can.
I was thinking the gov't docks by Granville Island.
I'm kind of surprised an area as large as Burrard inlet has only 1 marina...

Another option would be the Pitt Meadows marina, but a trip up the Fraser doesn't really appeal to me.

Coal Harbour Marina and Bayshore West Marina. Both have short term space from time to time. You could also try Lynnwood Marina

North Shore may be a closer drive than right down in False Creek? A friend of mine has his boat down at the Gov't dock in False Creek and I live about a 10 minute walk away....I highly doubt that they have space for transients unless they rent out spots when all the commercial boats are out??

That marina is the cheapest moorage in the area by a LONG SHOT.

I pulled in to the Granville island Gov. dock late at night last summer.I awoke to see a lock and chain to the boat.Walked up to the office to pay for my overnight moorage. The Dickhead says HMMMM 22footer is 45 bucks. If he wasnt 6.4 I would of knocked his head off!!

Mosquito creek has transient, give Antonio Escala the dock manager a call

Hey Dan, don't be afraid of the Fraser. A trip up to Pit Meadows would be great. Should be able to find something in the area. I would even take Steveston, Ladner or Crescent Beach before Burrard Inlet.

Thanks for the input guys. Not sure if we'll do it or not....always wanted to, but with fuel prices it's cheaper to take the ferry.
Ken, I'll consider your advise...always think of the Fraser as full of debris, but maybe that's only a problem during run-off?
The Canucks screwed up my other plan...overnight in False creek and tickets to the Cup final...
