Losing to the whales at the bluffs?

Sooke Bluffs in Pudget Sound??? Mixed up some coordinates?? lol
If it was here it must have been on Gypseas boat. Everyone else is catching whole fish...lol :D:D

I wrote that part off as geography challenged poster - it 'looks' like it could be whiffin spit in the distance looking into the basin near the beginning, although I haven't fished over there enough to know for sure if the rest of the landscape added up (houses etc) - I'm sure someone can confirm!

This version http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=vPfqe00lz-o says its from Alaska. Makes more sense to me. But either way, its worth losing a fish (or part of it) for those shots!!

yeah, that's more believable than the thought of catching a slab like that in Puget Sound..lol Just amazes me how the whales just get right in there by the boat...would have been incredible.

It's amazing how caption can go from Alaska to Sooke Bluffs!

HAHAHA I'd be willing to loose the tail of a fish that size to a whale just for the sake of the story. Anybody can land a 50LBR :D but to land one and beat a killer to it AND have it on video now thats a story.
Loosing it to a seal...now thats a different dish:(:(:(
cheers

JUST FISHEN'

great vid. don't care where it was shot, i'd have loved to have been the guy trying to land that fish before the orca grabbed it. now a seal? in the olden days.................

The first time I saw this video was early last year and it claimed to be out of Campbell River. Goes to show you can trust everything you see on the Internet ;)

We had the same thing happen to one of our guides off of lizard pt, it was a cow and 2 little ones and she was training her calf to hunt much to the dislike from one of our guides.LOL LOL it was crazy there was whales all around us and we were caught in the middle of all the action and the springs were biting like crazy very cool day. The neatest part was the calf hung around Darcys boat the whole time when he was trying to reel in what was left the whale would grab it then spit it out then it hung around his boat we have a lot of pics on the lodge wall.

I was trolling over to film it but we got a double header on the way there with all these whales around us it was a very bizarre day and I have never seen a day like that before.
