Beautiful weather down here on the southern tip of the Baja. A nice break from the winter weather on the coast. Rest and relaxation from the working grind. What surprises me is most of the tourists here are Canucks! A great lively, friendly party atmosphere. The finest tequila and Cuban cigars! Who knew one could buy a 5 pack of Cohibas for 20 dollars US! I pay 35 dollars for one cohiba back home! Knowing the peak season for yellowfin tuna and striped marlin is April through November,as the warmer ocean currents are close to shore here. I took my son out anyways cause i luv to fish! Lol,especially saltwater fishing as i believe it runs through my veins! We trolled surface baits at a little faster speed then trolling for our west coast salmon. We fished a few miles off the front of Cabo san lucas. Only a few boats were out trolling along side us.First time for my son saltwater fishing warmer climes. We didnt manage to hook any tuna or marlin, but we did hook a couple of mahi mahi! What a fabulous scrap they put up! Jumping out of the water when hooked! And a great fighter to bring to the boat, that neon green color when along side the boat is awesome. And to top it all off,a wonderful eating fish. Yum yum! Cant imagine what it would be like to hook a larger fish such as a yellowfin tun or striped marlin.Yup i could see myself living down here and fishing the saltwater for the rest of my days. What a blast!

Hey Dennis

I'm glad you and your son got out to catch some of those Dorados......good times and memories.

PS, i'll be down there on Friday .....can't wait to sun tan and party!!

Yah, did end up booking through Gordos pangos withe Eric Brictson as suggested by a couple of fellas on this site. The 28 ft La Lahona was a nice boat in good condition with good up to date fishing equipment. The Captain and deck hand worked hard and cared about getting us into fish. The only thing i didnt like, was, neither spoke english,so we could not talk with them and pick their brains about the fishing and history of the area.Next time i would like an english speaking crew. Some one suggested to walk the marina and book directly with a boat. This doesnt work here as the marina is gated so you have no ascess to the boats. You dont get past the dock "coyotes" standing at every gate and tryng to sell you "great" fishing with whatever boat thier affilliated with. The hunderds of vendors here hounding you constantly to buy stuff, takes getting used to.Right from the minute you step of the plane, they are all over you.lol. Looking forward to eating at Habaneros tonight as recommended also on this site.Thanx guys.Cheers!
