Looking for advice fishing Vancouver area

Hello All,

I just moved from Ontario to Vancouver this past fall. I am very anxious to get out and do some fishing, but unfortunately have not the slightest idea of where and when to go for what species. I do not have a boat so shore fishing is what I am looking to do, though I have access to a canoe. I would love to hear any advice people may have on decent fishing within a reasonable driving distance from Vancouver and what may be the best time to target certain species. I'm not pickey as to what I catch, but I do love to eat fresh fish. Looking forward to hearing some advice!

Don't know where in Van you are. I don't do a lot of shorefishing.

For Canoeing, Buntzen and Sasamat in Anmore (Coquitlam) are great little stocked lakes.
Sasamat is small enough that if you fall in you can swim out from anywhere on the lake.
Buntzen is narrow & long, and can produce all year, although both lakes are better shortly after stocking.
