Looking for a small fuel tank for heater

Hey guys, anyone know the easiest way to do a legal diesel tank for my espar? I'll need a deck fitting for the fill and vent. 15L-20L would be great.

ultralight aircraft fuel tanks are available. can buy em off the shelf in those capacities. or you can try a aircraft fuel bladder.

Looks like there's a ton of options. My only issue is that mine will have to lay flat. Had a few members reach out with decent options for custom jobs. I'll likely end up going that route to maximize volume in the tight space. I'm thinking about using one of those vent and fill deck fittings as well. Keep the holes down to just 1. Love drilling holes in the boat.

Those deck fittings are super handy. Super not nice to cut in though. It's not a round hole and if it's in a tight spot it can get challenging to cut in. Just be prepared and choose a spot with some room around it for a cordless jig saw. Or the die grinder will be your best friend. After go home and toss your laundry right in the washing machine without saying anything.

Great advice, thanks.

You'll hate it. 4 screw holes and a wierd hole with very little tolerance between them. Possible someone has created a better one by now. Not sure. Only way to do it with one round hole is to flange it I would guess. Sounds complicated to install. Do some research on deck fills with vents.

I hear they're a pain because they constantly stop your flow. But I don't see that being an issue with such a low volume of fuel.

It's the install you'll hate. Ultimately those deck fittings are not very quality material or install friendly. Plus they won't match the burnewiins

Is the tank in a hidden place? Just a thought but you can fill in the cabin or even place the tank a little farther away from your original spot? Not only do you need to cut a nice hole but also route a somewhat hard-walled fuel filler hose.

I have my breather just looped around towards the back of the cabin and it is a 1/8" hose which is sufficient for these small tanks. I have NEVER once got a whiff of fumes as the breather is mainly an air draw to prevent a vacuum in the tank as diesel is being used. The expansion of diesel is very small when you are dealing with 10-12L so maybe you don't need to cut any fiberglass?

It's in an enclosed lazarette. The original owner installed a couple jerry can tanks down there with a quick connect fuel line. Came up on the survey as an issue. They said to relocate them to a vented area above deck (which I don't have), or to properly install a tank with a fill and vent. There isn't a lot of space on the boat, but there's a perfect shallow useless space right next to where the tanks are now that I could slide a tank in. Easy run up the gunnel to install a filler somwhere as well.
