I'm heading up to desolation sound/ lund mid aug for a week.

me, my bro and our gf's... were going to meet up with mom and dad on their 56ft symbol.

having never made the trip before, im looking for some help with the location of fuel docks, repair facilities, and could use some intell on fishing areas. (any hali up there?)

having grown up fishing with Dad, id love to be able to get him hooked into a nice spring. since the days of our 24 zeta (i was 14, now 33) , i dont think he's landed any salmon

would also love to dig some clams if there are any around. (the kind burried in sand, not the other type)

Thunder bay octopuse point should hold castable blue buzz bomb and trapable bouy susended critters.just sayin might be harbour mid day for you.

Lots of areas to fish in the PR area. Halibut are caught but mostly a bycatch from trolling for salmon. Out in front of the Lund Harbour, Sarah Pt, Harwood Island, Coho Pt, Mystery Reef and Grant Reefs are all solid salmon areas. Clams an oysters are found on Savary Island. Fuel can be had at the Beach Gardens Resort, Westview, Lund and Refuge Cove.

Given the weather and the BC CDC warning about Vibrio, and the REAL possibility of PSP, you would be wise to take clams and oysters off the menu.

Do you mean fuel on the run up or once you're there?

Once you're up there it's pretty much just Refuge Cove and Heriot Bay on Quadra....or back down to Lund.

Going up you have Sechelt, Secret Cove, Pender Harbour, Powell River and Lund with fuel docks.

The biotoxin closures/warnings change pretty frequently. Best to check the DFO site just before you leave on your trip to be safe.

Beach Gardens and Westview both have fuel floats and I have made the run to Vancouver from here in a 542 without refueling. Refueled down there and back roughly 1/4 tank to spare each way. What size boat and motor and fuel tank? you will have to also watch the weather coming up Malaspina Strait. If it is blowing against you, you will burn more fuel but there is Maderia Park Pender Harbour just beforehand.
Are you planning to fish on the way up or are you looking for spots in Desolation? There is a large RCA at the mouth of Desolation to be aware of. Waddington channel by the bluffs can be good early in the morning.

Im more concerned about fuel while on route, ive never made a 75nm journey, and based off the smartcraft mpg i should be fine for fuel, but im not certain of its accuracy

just checked http://www-ops2.pac.dfo-mpo.gc.ca/f...g=view_notice&lang=en&ID=recreational&ispsp=1 it shows that im fine for Subareas 15-1 to 15-3 closed to all bivalve shellfish except manila clams, littleneck clams, oysters and mussels;

unless im missing something?

As Ken said....check it often.

The beaches on Mink Island (southeast side where most boats anchor) are great for clams. Get them on the way into the sound and give them a day or two to spit the sand. If you don't have a mesh bag, tie a rope on to a bucket hook it on to a cleat and let them do their thing I usually shake it out a couple times a day....just don't forget them when powering up! ;)

Some spots without a good tidal flush I would avoid like Pendrell Sound.

Ended up staying in ballet bay on Nelson island,
Found a few good spots for oysters and clams.
Fishing was slow the first few days but after a good tip from a friend we picked up a 12 and a28 lb spring by quarry bay
