Subject: FN0203-RECREATIONAL - Fin Fish Other than Salmon - Lingcod Opening Time and Limits - Amendment to FN0175

Effective at 00:01 hours April 1, 2010 to 23:59 hours November 15, 2010,
fishing for lingcod will open in the following areas:

Areas 11, 21 to 27, 111, 121, 123 to 127, 130 and 142 and Subareas 12-14 and 20-
1 to 20-4.

The daily limit is three (3) per day with a possession limit of six (6). The
minimum size is 65cm.

The exceptions to this opening are:

Area 121:
Effective 00:01 hours February 1, 2010 to 23:59 hours December 31, 2010:
No person shall fish for or retain halibut, rockfish and lingcod in Area 121
outside the 12 nautical mile limit seaward of a line that begins at 48 degrees
34.000 minutes North latitude and 125 degrees 17.386 minutes West longitude and
continues south easterly at a bearing of 116 degrees True to a point at 48
degrees 28.327 minutes North latitude and 125 degrees 01.687 minutes West
longitude.

Area 121:
A reminder to recreational harvesters, that the waters of Swiftsure Bank,
inside a line from 48°34.00'N and 125°06.00'W, thence to 48°34.00'N and 124°
54.20'W, thence to 48°29.62'N and 124°43.40'W, thence following the
International Boundary between Canada and the U.S. to 48°29.55'N and 124°
56.20'W, thence in a straight line to the point of commencement, are closed to
all finfish, all year.

LINGCOD
Effective at 00:01 hours May 1, 2010 to 23:59 hours September 30, 2010 fishing
for lingcod will open in the following areas:

Areas: 12-1 to 12-13, 12-15 to 12-48, 13 to 19, 20-5 to 20-7 and 29-5.
Daily limit: one (1)
Size limit: 65cm (Note: this is a change from 2009)
Annual limit: ten (10)

***PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN LINGCOD SIZE LIMIT TO 65cm***

ROCKFISH (Rockfish and Yelloweye Rockfish in the aggregate):
Effective at 00:01 hours May 1, 2010 to 23:59 hours September 30, 2010 fishing
for rockfish will open in the following areas:

Areas: 12-1 to 12-13, 12-15 to 12-48, 13 to 19, 20-5 to 20-7 and 29-5.
Daily limit: one (1)
No size limit or annual is in effect.

Hey RK,

I don't see anything for area 13 on the list you posted. Am I reading the info wrong or is it staying closed?
 
BB! that was 2010 as requested by BRS. I haven't seen any "official" openings for this year yet.
Going back to edit previous post now.
 
DOH! Was so busy checking for season dates I didn't even read the year! Guess I better get some sleep!
 
May 1 2011 most areas? rs is #19 no Ling retention this year?
 
I was at the March Victoria SFAB meeting and I think I heard that stocks have not rebounded in Area 19. It may not open for lings at all in Area 19.

Duffer-- It came right from the chair of the SFAB groundfish committee. But there are complicating issues with rockfish.
