Kicker for diesel

For all you diesel owners out there, what do you do for a kicker that need regular gas??? I am looking at 2 different boats, and both are diesel's. The thing is that I really want to add a kicker without the awfull looking spare gas tank/leaks...etc...of one of those things.

Let me know,...Thanks

Hey kris if you got room or space you could always put in a seperate permanant tank with a filler hose ,quage and line and go for as big or small as you want my old boat had a seperate 17 gallon tank which was seperate from the main and it would last a very long time.

I am going to look at it again tomorrow. How much work is involved in setting all that up? As well where would a guy get a tank made to fit, or buy a pre made one??? I live in Edmonton..FYI

Do you guys know if there is a kicker out there that has a gas tank built right on it? I thought I had seen one when I was down in the states this summer...don't recall who made it. I think it was only a 4 or 6hp though.

Sure , i had an older 4.5 evinrude with a tank...
but i wouldn't waste your time because they only hold 2 or 3 litres
of fuel.
I think Honda made a 5hp with built in tank also

Kris if your buying a diesel it must be a bigger boat????? i would imagine.... so your going to need a 9.9 or bigger anyways, how big are these boats???

Kris, I sent a reply on open forum, I have A 27 Seasport Seamaster with a Volvo diesel, it was a charter in Sitka Alaska, they installed a 15 gallon tank under the gunnel...... you could get by with a 6 or 10gallon for a smaller boat, its totally out of sight

Do you have any pictures, or have any idea how.where I would mount it up in there? Would there need to be any cutting done, or is there a way of it sliding in, and a matter of just fastening it down, running fuel lines, and wires for the pump and ground??? I am new to this...

If your new to all of this you may want to get it professionally installed then or find someone you know to help you as you are going to need to meet certain regs like valves and A1 hose, vent and more for insurance purposes and I would hate to see you do it one way only to have to go back and redo it all.

Alternative option is to find yourself a diesel kicker and not have to worry about two fuel types. Yanmar makes a 27hp unit that are supposed to be outstanding.
