My first posting here. From what I've read it looks like this forum is a great source of information for the west coast fishery:D

I'll have my boat at Browns Bay for the summer and I would like to do some prawning now and then. Gotta get some use out of my early Father's Day present; an Ace Line Hauler[8D] Anyone point me to some likely spots in the local area to drop my traps? I guess the current pretty well rules out the Strait proper:(

Thanks, Tom

Don't try setting your traps anywhere from Seymore to past Chatham, or you'll either be watching them go past Campbell River in short order or you're in a restricted area.
There are some areas on the north side of Sonora Island or just south of
Thurlow.
Stick around for the fall if you can.

Yup, there will be quite the Party over there come ChumFest this year!
I'll be over to Brown's Bay in early October, staying most of the month. If you happen to see a 25' Sea Ray titled "Dream Weaver", stop by for a Brew & BS session urchin... Of course you too Paul (although I suspect we'll be runnin' into each other well before then!)

Cheers,
Nog
