Jigging close to Nanaimo

Taking a few first timers out on Sunday and other than trolling i was gonna try and jig for some lings but haven't done it close to Nanaimo....I was gonna try up close to entrence island on the side closest to the cannery/gabriola area. Anyone else have any suggestions? I don't want to stray too far from the Neck Point to Entrence area as we don't have a ton of time to fish.

Thanks in advance.

I used to jig right by the green can outside Nanaimo harbour off Stevensen Point in years gone by for springs in August. One day we limited out right there. 4 springs in an hour (boy-those were the days) I don't think you will find any Lings there though.

OOps - I think that area is closed now. Sorry , I don't fish much around here anymore.

I remember those days. That's when if you weren't at the boat ramp by 4:00 or 4:30 you weren't going to get parking.

Have heard that the reefs on the georgia strait side of entrance are productive for ling. Have caught lots of rockfish and ling around the fingers, just nothing big enough to keep. Good Luck
