It looks like the Federal Govt. wants to stop all fishing on Constance Bank.

Don't know if there are other posts on this. If I read this correctly the liberals want to transfer responsibility for the Constance bank anchorage from Transport Canada to the Vancouver Port Authority, which has a ban on all fishing in their big ship anchorages. So if they are able to get away with this, there could be no more fishing permitted in an incredibly important fishing grounds for first nations and Victoria area fisherman.

Typical. The taking the Ports out of Environmental assessments happened during the reign of Harper using omnibus bills. Harper also took the feds out of PNCIMA so that no DFO/fisheries bunch were involved in the development of the MaPP/NSB MPA processes that followed. And we are still dealing with that aftermath. This is yet another example of how ripples in a pond keep on going long after the rock has sunk. Tsunami coming in the aftermath of this term of federal leadership,

Strangely there is no mention of recreational fisherman. The people who actually fish on Constance Bank, the people who use the fish as a food supply, contribute to the economy, and support themselves.

Well, the ONLY reason the Port had this discussion was because of s. 35 - otherwise they'd just go ahead and do it anyways with no consultation with anyone including recreational fisherman and/or a superficial consultation period that ends up with a "What We Heard" summary and business as usual - kinda like what DFO does all the time. Not that long ago prior to Harper's reign - they were forced to do environmental assessments under CEAA, as I mentioned. So without s. 35 - there'd be ZERO review.

So quick semi related question. Can you not troll amongst the freighters in English Bay then?
