If You're Launching @ Vanier Park in Vancouver...

If you're launching @ the Vanier Park ramp beside the Burrard Street Bridge be advised the the construction of the Jervis Forcemain #2 sewer line has shot everything all to hell and it looks to be that way for some time.

This weekend the south end of the Bridge was closed altogether and turns restricted in many places.

My advice, if you know the hood is take Cypress St north off 4th Ave. (the one I live on incidentally) to access Whyte Ave then drive through to the launch as per usual, this is the old route from before the bridge turning lanes were changed.

However-Cypress St is now a bike route and hundreds of bikes a day are using the street, in addition there have been some choke points installed so driving is something of a PITA especially using a trailer.

Alternatively you can use Arbutus or even Maple to head north then east but there's a steep hill to be navigated on both of them.[V]

I live right down there on Kits Point. Actually have our neighborhood notice from the city about the construction work right next to my PC. ;)

Dogbreath is right....but if you are coming off Burrard from the south you should be fine to turn right on to Cypress and then right on to Greer. Construction had things all messed up on Saturday but it was fine on Sunday? [?]

Alternatively...if you can get on to Cornwall and to eliminate trying to tow a boat around the stupid roundabouts that litter my neighborhood....turn on Arbutus and just skirt around the Point back to Vanier to avoid them.

I should add....I do check in here daily and if anyone wants to know the status of construction (as it's gonna be awhile) feel free to drop me a line and I can easily get a look by walking out my front door and having an excuse to walk up a couple of blocks for a coffee. ;)

I am launching at Vanier on Wednesday at 6:00 a.m. for our annual Vancouver Firefighters Derby. Hopefully the roads are not too bad at 5:30 when I get to that area.
Afternoon haulout will be ugly right at rush-hour. Oh well, at least its not a weekend.[8D]

Hey Abby...

I'll take note on Tuesday evening to make sure there aren't any weird road closures. Mind you at 5:30am it shouldn't be a real gong show. ;)

At rush hour...you may want to go opposite of the way I said and head across Kits Point (west) over to Arbutus and then turn on to Cypress if traffic is a beeotch.

Oh...and btw...there have been some decent fish caught from the Bell Buoy south; although not in plentiful numbers.

There still "should" be a few pushes of springs coming. Hoping....as I am headed out later this week.
