If you fish in the lower Georgia Straight

If you fish in these areas or plan to in your grandchildren's time, then I would strongly advise you get to one of these meetings.
They tell you that they will allow fishing, however they also allowed it in the Broken Group and took it away.
That one would have been a lot worse accept for the people who e-mailed etc. and got it stopped.

This area is huge. Remember they allow no hunting in their parks.
So do you think you are going to be able to get crabs, prawns, oysters and clams?

Think you will be able to put your boat on their shores?
Anchor overnight?

Be very concerned.

INVITATION FOR UPCOMING CONSULTATION SESSIONS
Parks Canada, in cooperation with the Province of British Columbia, is
undertaking a study to assess the feasibility of establishing a national
marine conservation area (NMCA) reserve in the southern Strait of Georgia.
We would like to extend an invitation for you to attend one of our upcoming
consultation sessions to contribute your knowledge to the feasibility study.

Participate in an afternoon workshop or drop-in to an evening open house:
Workshop 1pm to 4pm - RSVP required Open House 6pm to 8pm - Drop-in

Read on to find out where the sessions are being held, a bit about the
format and which date works best for you. An RSVP is requested for everyone
who is interested in attending a workshop so that we will have enough
facilitators and seating.

WHY WORKSHOPS AND OPEN HOUSES?
The content of both workshops and open houses is the same; however, if you
attend a workshop you will examine and work on issues in greater detail. If
you work during the day, or are busy - keep in mind that you can drop into
one of the open houses, get an update on the project and still contribute to
the study.

WHAT ARE WE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT?
We are going to do value-based visioning and mapping work, including
ground-truthing draft map atlas pages. Both the workshops and open houses
will include a presentation highlighting the progress of the feasibility
study to date.

THE FORMAT
The workshops are three hours, from 1pm to 4pm. The workshops start with a
brief update followed by a presentation and facilitated breakout groups.
Coffee and cookies will be available. You must RSVP if you would like to
attend a workshop.

The open houses are from 6pm to 8pm, with a presentation starting at 6.10pm
. There will be time afterwards for discussion, informal 'mingling' and
themed stations. Coffee and cookies will be available.

HOW YOU CAN HELP US
It would be greatly appreciated if you can assist us in advertising these
events by sending the invitation to people you know who may be interested.
We also have a colour flyer available that can be placed on community notice
boards to advertise these events, just send us an email request and we can
send the flyer electronically or in the mail.
