Have your buddy take a look at a Seaswirl 2901 Pilothouse -- they also make them with just an Alaskan top, but IMHO the Pilothouse is the better design. They can be had in his price range.

kingfisher,, i got mine in tacoma.. could not find one for less than 100k in canada.... got mine for 72k. 450 hrs on the whole unit.
