If you could spend $60k on a boat

A friend of mine was wondering what boat to buy and looking for opinions. He wants 26-28', trailerable. Prefer Alaskan bulkhead for water camping trips and winter fishing. Wants a good offshore hull to handle the rough stuff. Would like O/B's or flush deck I/O so not tripping over the dog house. Gas or diesel. Decent sized deck out back and enclosed head. Thanks in advance for replies.

If I had 60k I personally would buy a used Aluminum 26 footer with 4 stroke power if he could find one in that price range . If he wants fibreglass my favorites are Skagit Orca, Seasport,Parker or a Hourston. I really like the walkaround style but for the west coast its nice to be able to close a solid door. Just my opinion.

Seasport...usually a good selection of used in Washington. Island Marine Centre on Lopez Island in the San Juan Islands often has some good inventory. They are a dealer so they don't give them away but they have a selection. BTW, I'm not a walk around fan for one reason. You loose a lot of cabin room which you will use every day. I never see anyone walking around the walk arounds...just my opinion.

That Ospey is priced at the top of the range considering it has a 2 stroke Yammie on her.
very nice boat, but thirsty motor:p

x2 i would look for a aluminium boat could pick a nice kingfisher or something up for around that used with everything.

Would only look at aluminum, podded, outboard, hardtop, alaska bulkhead, cuddy and nothing with "river" in a name or that looks like it was first designed as a river boat. Northwest would be my dream boat with silver streak a close second. With a 60K budget 26-28 ft may be hard to find, maybe 22-24 ft with 225-250 4 stroke outboard more realistic. There are always 'deals' to keep looking for. This has me thinking of selling the Double eagle???? Last time I had this choice I got the DE and went elephant hunting.

That sure is a big boat for sure. As for boats, I just bought a 2008 Campion Explorer 622i fully enclosed with 225 ETEC. I looked for 3 years for a SeaSport 22-24, Osprey 24-26, Northwest 22-24 (Options wanted - Outboard(s), self bailing deck, trim tabs, enclosed, fridge & good size cuddy for sea camping for $50k. Needless to say they're hard to find & usually over $50K & decided to go with the explorer which is a great boat, but lacks good size fish lockers, so time to rig up a cooler on the pod.

I would stick to fiberglass myself. All of the brands I would choose have been mentioned. I like the 27" Seasport the best. Twin outboard or diesel.

there used to be a 2525 fingfisher offshore in Grande Prairie on Kijiji not sure if its on there guy was asking 60k or just over i phoned about it and had my brother in law took a look at it. Was a awesome boat came with everything radar, gps, etc. But was alittle to big for what we wanted so we bought a new 2011 2425 Discovery (same as Experience HT minus the hard top over hang on rear) that was sitting in Hay River at Kingland Ford got it for around same price. But was going to buy that one before we found this one.

Thanks I will get him to check it out. How long ago did you see it on there.
