I once was fishing with a friend that was baiting a trout hook with a dew worm when his dog ran over his rod making the fishhook rip right through his thumb and out the nail... lets see that removal demo.. the Dr's cut the shank of the hook off and pushed it through..
I got a barbed fish hook caught under my thumb nail that was attached to a 5 lb small mouth. I tried for about an hour to get it out but just made a bloody mess of it. A trip to the ER was the ticket. My wife took a picture as the whole situation was rather hilarious. I will see if I can find it.
The doctor used a heavy gauge needle to cover the barb and slid the whole unit out. I carry a big needle in my tackle box and hope to never use it!
It happens to everyone. I learned how to remove them from a doctor at a young age lol. Trout fishing damn it. Use the string thing and two man show. Works great. Solo is different, but have been through that before. I tend to be extra careful around fishing gear since then. Haven't had a hook in me in a long time. Knock on wood. Fillet knife through the palm of my hand, yes, but not a hook lol .
That guy is an idiot for doing that to himself lol! Lot's of other ways to do a demonstration .
