Yesterday I gave our lab a shower. The product i used to for shampoo was her cod liver oil dog food supplment.I't was too late ,latherd her up befor the odor was noticable ,i then washed her again with her shampoo ,today she still smells of cod liver oil. What would i try washing this odor out with?

good point i will make the call now.I was passed the squirt bottle and told to use. In bold print on the bottle FOR DOGS AND CATS,i never further checked lable.

Mild dish soap and vinigar diluted in water ,bring to lather and let stand for few minutes ,then shampoo .near miss ,no harm done.

we used tomato juice or canned milk on a couple of different occasions for some skunk adventures. worked OK

oh god...I feel for you... As someone who own a mobile carpet ( golden retriever) I can imagine what cod liver oil would smell like... Call a breeder I am sure they can tell what to use or vet...

Good point, DB. About a month during our regular trek up to check on the Wilfred Creek hatchery, our springer accomplished the trifecta - she rolled in otter poop, beaver poop and a dead fish. She was very proud of herself - we, not so much. The drive home was pretty ripe.

Check out Ottawa Valley Dog Whisper web page. We use it all the time for info to keep out 2 year old Lab fresh and healthy. Plus if free info!

a good soak in tomato juice and 5:1vinegar/water ,, basically you need to break the oil down.like another mentioned lather up and let soak for 10 mins if possible.... it may take a couple of treatments.

My girlfriend said the same thing. Break the oil down with dish soap. Then wash your dog again with moisturizing shampoo. She said to use whatever brand of soap they show in the TV commercial. The one they are cleaning all the oil covered animals in. Can't remember the brand but think it's JOY. Moisturizing shampoo so your dogs fur doesn't get too dry as the dish soap will strip it pretty good. Good luck
