How old is the oldest jar of canned salmon have you eaten

On Monday I ate a jar of my canned salmon , thinking it was the sockeye I caught this seaon. Upon discarding the jars lid I noticed it said "Sock Sept 2010" , What the he**!!!" , I thought ......I better call poison control !!
I quickly turned on the computer (dont ask me why ) and felt a bit better as it was noted that " you can eat the salmon up to two years being canned".

Well its now been 3 days after the meal and I haven't felt better, I think I'm in the clear now LOL

Just wondering what it the oldest canned salmon you've gutted !!!!

We've eaten our 3 year old canned salmon with no ill effects. And it still tasted great. It should be good, if one:
- takes care when pressure canning - sterilizes, uses correct time and pressure;
- makes sure the seal is good and
- stores the product in a cool, dark place.

I am still eating Fraser River Sockeye canned back in 2001-2002. Tastes great.

If you pop the lid and there is no black on it you are good... I am talking Jars(canned salmon)

I guess this would also include those jars where you cant stick a fork into the salmon because its as hard as a brick and maybe even the black mold has died off

let's see....catch your limit and limit your catch......WTF would you have canned Salmon from more than 2 yearsgo?? Heck....2011 had some fantastic sox fishing off the Fraser....I can barely eat all the salmon I keep!

Because some years are better than others. Perhaps I have limited my catch since then until I have it all used up.

THE salmon I canned in 2010, was bought from commercial boats at Steveston dock ..OK !

Not saying I have a tonne of canned fish as I eat rf smoke almost all of my fish. But I have about 10-15 cans of fish least 10 years old and I still eat it.
