Just wondering how everyone is fairing this year so far? I have been hearing a lot of news about this being one of the best years in recent memory? Everyone agree or are there some doom and glooms reports too?

Having a great year! Been over to the WCVI twice thus far and it is by FAR the best I have seen in a number of years. Kyuquot this year was WAY better than last year; Tofino in May was absolutely outstanding!!

It will be interesting to see how things shape up in the local waters around Vancouver heading into August. Some good early reports....and the Cap coho seem to be showing up moreso than last year. The tail end of the winter fishery sounded outstanding with better than average fishing through the spring.

started great with the discoderby producing some nice chinook. then had to cancel out on the esperanza trip. first cataract surgery done, waiting until the next eyeball is fixed. maybe back in the water by late july, i hope!

Best June in Sooke in 7-8 years, lots of 30lb+ too. I hope Nootka rebounds as well, (from last year) heading up for my annual trip with clients on the 23rd. Already sounds like it will be back to normal and lots of springs.

Lousy year for me. Lost my job in March and blew the powerhead on my outboard in May. But thanks for asking.

Average so far , but in the lean years I still got my fish but only had to work harder , so this year I guess has been a bit easier with bigger fish earlier.
If you want to go back to the halcyon years then lets talk about the mid to late '80s in all areas of the West coast , now those days were spectacular !!

Dont rub it in man, im only 20 and I hate hearing about "What once was" [xx(] Bugs the crap outa me, and then the DFO starts giving our fish away and crap. Man i feel sorry for my kids, its almost not worth teaching them fishing, as its going to cost more then the fish you catch is worth.
