How do you organize your tackle?

Well I tought this would be a cool thread to see how folks organize their tackle on their boat's. This should be very educational for sure!

I started out with the typical hard cased Plano boxes and evolved into the soft cased with multiple boxes. Well I spent a good half hour will a very knowledgeable angler yesterday afternoon and have switched gears again.

PNT is offerring up these beauties. I tried the flasher bag thing over the last couple of years and was never really happy with the whole set up. I picked up this flasher filing box that I will pre rig my flashers with what ever hootchie, teaser head, or spoon and have them pre rigged.

I wanted something else for teaser heads in bulk, or pre rigged spoons, hootchies, etc, that you can keep separated without any tangling etc. but most importantly can see what the hell is there.

Here is a shot of the two new way's of thinking for tackle storage that I got from PNT yesterday.

I am starting to think differently for sure in the tackle storage department. How about you?

Since I'm fishing on different boats I have to be organised & mobile.

PN&T in Steveston village also sells these and they work very well for my purposes I like being able to keep large spoons for instance together and being able to easily leave them behind if I'm fishing Inside.

I picked up the same bag for tuna gear at PNT here on the Island.

and it should work great for tuna gear or salmon gear pre rigged.

I bought an extra "insert " as well in case of expansion (never heard of that in the tackle department before ha ha).

Cheers,

If you run your plugs with a "pulled pin" the 6" model will fit in the tubes prerigged with leader apparently. That is pretty cool.

In the flasher filing box you have to run every second slot to be able to have pre rigged unit's in there for the space between etc. You can still run 9 or 10 prerigged units in that box. I think this is awesome. I can't wait to try it out. I will be tying up some pre rig's shortly and post up some pic's when the box is full. I am sorting tackle now to get on the damn water soon so I'll post up picks of the tubes full as well. Lord knows we have no shortage of tackle lol.

my spoon storage was really bugging me always all over in the box and upside down you had to constantly flip them around to see what was what.
and this is what I did with a 4" deep storage box and some plastic type foam,(same material as a kids pool noodle)
I cut the foam to fit between the dividers, then I sliced on a diagonal line from top to bottom into the foam so when the spoons slide in
the longer ones still allow the lid to close, also this way you can see exactly whats there and easily pull out whatever your after.
I still need to make another one or two of them and I'll be set

While we're on this subject, I'm looking for a new tackle box. Does anyone have any favourites they'd like to share or recommend?

Helps protect the paint and finish as well. Very cool idea. Thanks for sharing that.

really like ur spoon box , think i just borrowed ur idea lol

now where to find rigid or high dense 1 in. foam : )

thx gidyup !!!....

fd
I got this stuff from a thermal insulation company they use it to wrap heat pipes, it wasnt thick enough so I had to layer and glue to fill up that 4" inch deep box,
I tried it with some of that kids pool noodle stuff and it works much easier, spoons slide in and out way easier and it drains water to the bottom as well.
this foam rubber type stuff grips the spoons and makes it hard to slide them in,
the polyethylene foam would be much better, good luck finding some sheets of it, looks to be real pricey, there is some on ebay

Here is how I store my tackle it's a stainless table with lots of storage so far I really like it. Over the years you kind of figure things out the way you like them and this was something I wanted for some time and it really help keep thing tidy!

That's a beauty set up JAC! No shortage of tackle on your boat eh lol? I like the workstation top. Thanks for posting the pic's.

spent the better part of winter organizing my main goody bag! Packs down into my shaaa-weeeet Berkley tackle bag I won as a doorprize during this years Loggers Derby. Put to great use! Something I'm sure will be asked about, its a Plano Line Spool box (1" spool model)...holds 6 220yd spools of your favorite lines...tangle free, great way to store line and have leaders ready to cut with a quick pull! Love the box, but couldnt find it locally so I ordered it online...they make a model with spools up to 1.5" as well.

I use 2 cut pool noodles for my pre-tied hoochie leaders. I dont pre-tie for spoons. I boght the slim version of the plano box (1.25" thick) for my smaller spoons n whatnot. At the moment I fish on a couple boats, not yet my own, but soon, so I like to remain portable!

....still waiting to get my plugs in order

a friend uses that flasher box....it works ok :P the 2 wood pieces that seperate the flashers already busted....if they used a plastic instead of white painted wood it would last a lot longer. not a difficult box to make, Wal-mart carries all the sizes of locking tupperware boxes you could need...personally prefer the flasher bag method as it lets wet flashers breath a little better. Im not one to dry gear after it comes out of the water so I have a seperate water-tite case to store my used gear until I get home and can wash, rinse, and dry, and then it goes back into the 'master boxes'. If you put wet flashers in the box watch out for condensation....not all flashers come with quality Sampo swivels, or the like...and I hate seeing a new, or old flasher, with a rusted swivel...
