How close is too close when you are on the hook?

We were anchored bottom fishing last week when a McKay Bay lodge boat came and parked right on top of our anchor and started fishing. They were definately back trolling to stay on top of our anchor.
I thought I would post these pictures.

fishing is one thing,, that isn't so bad, just some bad manners really,, its when another guy lays his anchor too close so that it is dangerous, pisses me off...that pat?

I've got some similar pics of a guy who anchored right beside me on Constance a few months ago. It was a short tide change and there were maybe 4 boats anchored on the entire bank and he still went right beside me. We were yelling back and forth a bit about the damn dogs etc when I asked why he is so close he asked is this too close? Ummm ya if we can talk your WAY to close. Then the current changed and he was right in my scent trail he deffinetly picked the correct side of me to sit on. Next time I will yell and ask right away for the guy to move. there is no reason to be so close if another boat beats you to your spot it isn't your spot for that day.

Thankfully he didn't catch anything I would have been mighty pissed if he did. Have not posted the pics because maybe he didn't know any better.

ok, pardon the confusion... but whats the deal with people being so close? i cant say that i would be too worried halibut fishing if a guy pulled up beside me. as long as he didnt cross the gear.(which shouldnt happen if the tide is good and your using proper gear) plenty of hali's on the ocean floor...

Out on the banks where there is a million halibut is one thing but around Victoria they are spread out. When somebody anchors behind you in the scent trail the fish you lure in has a great chance of going to the other boat because it's the first the fish will come to. Plus if two boats are in a line and one comes off anchor it can be dangerous. Also in my situation the guy doesn't know if I have 300 or 650ft of anchor line out what if we crossed? NIGHTMARE.

The point is its terrible etiquette and can be dangerous if there are so many fish down there why does a guy have to come so close that it could make an issue?

that makes a bit more sense, thank you for clearing that up

People who fish freshwater have no understanding about tidal currents and the dangers involved when things begin to happen.
