Hornby Island - Labour Day Weekend...Aug 30-Sept 2...

Hey Guys,


I am heading for a wedding on Hornby for the Labour Day weekend and OF COURSE going to take my boat along. I'll take the crab trap, prawn if I get some tips that it's worth it, and the salmon gear. We are staying at Sea Breeze Resort on the North end, but likely leave the boat on the south at the dock(or ???).

So, any tips as to the time of year, locations, currents, etc would be very much appreciated. I'm guessing there will be Chinook coming by to the Q and other areas.... PM if you don't mind sharing some stuff but not publicly. I'm in the wedding party, so it would be good to get the groom out for one last fish before life is over!!lol

Best launch driving up from Vic? I am not scared of sketchy free launches; adds to the adventure!

I am headed up this weekend so should have something to report. It was really hot in early July and I have heard there is still some fish around. prawning is excellent out front of where you are staying. crabbing, not so much

There is a hornby/denman thread with some info as well.

Thanks dfrase, I figured I wouldn't spam the hornby/denman thread but have had my eye on it and will continue! Thanks. I'm used to prawning 180-210' in Saanich Inlet. Same kind of depths?
