Hootchie and spoon leader length

What sort of leader length are most guys sucessful with this time of year? Fishing the WCVI(Bamfield) using Coyote spoons, hootchies and teaser-heads(anchovie). Just the regular stuff everyone keeps in the box of tricks.

We're hoping the rains bring the fish in-shore soon. Guess I'll be the luck sap who sits in the rain with the kicker controls while the others enjoy the dry cabin, tunes and comfy seats![}:)] HHmmmm something sounds wrong with that, might have to promote the deckhands to helms-men!!:D

Hey Abby,

First off.......YOU should be in the heated cabin shouting orders out to a "newb" on the back deck dealing with the kicker.

This past weekend....we were fishing "turd" hoochies about 36"-40" behind a flasher. As for spoons if it's coyotes you are using you can try them 4-5' behind the flasher. If you're not getting hits you may even want to try and lengthen it out a bit to 6'.

If you have some larger spoons you can try them without a flasher as well?

X 2 on the FD info, try a heavy leader on the hootchie like 40 lb. as to follow the path of the flasher too. Spoons and Bait I go from 4 feet to 7 feet.

I have been using 40 lb leader after Felix recommended it last year after I was loosing some big springs. Has improved my retention rates.
Thanks for the other recommendations. Hopefully we have some good stories and picures to share. With any luck theywill have fish in them, not just 3 drowned rats.[8D]

Felix, I will send you an e-mail when we get back,we may not be home till Frday night if things are good.
