Hey, been busy with life and not on the forum lately

Life and ever reduced regs have made me decide to keep and repower my current boat rather than having a welded boat built for at least the next 5 years

Looking at options and opinions on Yamaha vs Suzuki vs Honda

Sherwood has new in box 2023 stock of 40hp Suzuki for reduced pricing ( roughly $8500 with taxes for 40 Suzuki with controls install extra) they also have new Suzuki, Yamaha options for 1500-2k more. If I went new I would likely do dealer install

I have also been watching the used market but don’t really want anything more than 5 years old or 500 hours max probably. Since Covid lease returns are fewer and used market has limited options so I would likely opt for good condition and price over brand. I am mechanical inclined so pulling and installing myself would likely be my option with used.

What are people’s experience or knowledge on newer Honda vs Suzuki vs Yamaha outboards?

I am set on no Mercs just based on past experiences with them.

Currently have a 2001 Yamaha 40hp 4 stroke, it’s cheap to operate and sufficient power. I would likely stick to the 40hp just for weight over the 50hp

Sherwood lost or gave up Honda and there are no marine dealers south of the malahat. So I wouldn’t buy another Honda, paid $100 in shipping for a couple different parts orders, one from boat land in CR and the other from the US.

I’d go Suzuki. More displacement and more torque if my old eyes are working. Lots of parts available. 3 dealers south of the malahat. I have a brand new analog guage/tack.

Dealer support is important and Honda don't have much on the lower island.
The 2023 Zuke sounds like a good option.
You should get a full 6 year warranty with it.
