Holy Cow...Seals!

Anyone ever see the episode of "Future Weapons" on Discovery where they demonstrate the Barrett.50? At 1000 yards the armour piercing abilities of this rifle will go through a 1/2" steel plate.

The Marines and Army use it as a sniper rifle accurate to over 1500 yards. I never knew that this same rifle is available for purchase by the public. I own several rifles, and shotguns and am very "Pro" gun, but available for the public to use??!?!?!?!?[:0]

I guess just in case you wanted to make that mile long shot on a deer or moose and just couldn't get enough Oooomph from your .30'06[:0]

My buddy is a weapon technician with the forces and works on those military rifles.

main limiting factor is the scope. He is no trained marksman,
yet when he was testing them at a range they were hitting targets 2 miles away. the target was the size of a license plate. scary stuff

You Canadians you must use a shotgun when hunting seal. That way you don't have to be a very good shot to hit one and you might get more then on with one shell. I lost a 100lb hali to a sea lion last year and if I had really thought about it I would have shot it with the flare gun. I wonder what effect that would have on a sea lion?

You know I have a blood relative who used a sling shot on a sea lion for doing something similar only it took a salmon... Needless to say, luckily he was on the big motor not the kicker and drove away from the enraged sea lion which chased him for a bit.

Ps Neither got the salmon and dad kept his flasher and downrigger ball somehow!! oops sorry dad [8D]
