Herring versus Anchovy

Winter Spring fishing,Sooke.Interested in opinions re using herring versus anchovy for the winter months. Opinions, preferences etc.
As a matter of interest I have had better success using a Tomic plug rather then Hootchies,ie. needlefish?

For Tomics I'd use a 4" #111.

It was white 6 in,lost it last year, can be replaced easily at 2nd hand store in Sooke, boxes of them

Winter spring fishing has started already. Two 8 pounders on Saturday out in the tidelines.

Hootchies and coyote spoons work great . Why use bait when you don't have to.

Winter springs will strike almost anything when on the bite but a tight rolling anchovy is hard to beat. That said however, I seldom bother with bait with winters anymore as there is too much good hardware in the box that needs work.

Im surprised, everyone seems to favor hardware over bait. Its not that Im not convinced but I will experiment for a while, herring strip/anchovie,one rod, cop cars, second rod.

Plastics for sure.
You go through too much bait trying to weed through the 3-4 lbers looking for some take homes.
