i think i saw a fisheries boat out there today. a little rough for me so i watched from the beach. looked like some type of aluminum boat testing something because they weren't really going anywhere. they were just bucking the waves for about an hour or so. then they took off.
There were about 6 seals in very shallow water, many birds including sea gulls, loons, ducks, but no herring. I put in today at about 1 pm. Trolled my herring jig around. Nothing. Maybe next week.
a bunch of commercial boats checked out the bay today. nothing doing so they took off. but now theres' one sitting in the bay. looks like he's anchored. maybe he's going to fish in the AM.
Was up in Campbell River Friday and could see that the herring fleet was getting ready lots of skiffs on the move on the road and a few of the main boats loaded or towing skiffs were on the water headed south.
Cheers ME
