help on Mercury 50 efi 2003

Anyone know the purpose of the small black plastic tube on the front of the leg above the fin above the cavitation plate? You can see a few inches of it in the photo. On my brand new to me boat the tube is attached at the leg, but the other end is dangling and looks like it should be inserted somewhere. It's about a foot long with a graduated fitting on the end. Thanks.

that is the pitot, you can hook up the speedo there instead of the transom mounted one
