my absolute favorite halibut hook is a 9/0 VMC permasteel octopus. two seasons ago i hand tied 50x tandom snelled on 150 lb leader... i cant find them anywhere?!?! (turned the house upside down several times)

the ones i had on the boat lasted over 2 years and were still priclky sharp, not like the gamagatsus that were dull a day later
ive searched around for some more VMC's but cant find any in canada.


What do you guys like for a Hali J-hook?

Talk to tony pretty sure he has a bunch of those hooks or knows where to find them.
 
I like same but in 10/0, not sure why they are getting harder to find? My leader is old wire downrigger cable, 150lb wire allows me to not loose rigs or have to retie every time when the doggie swarms hits JDF. Crimp back hook and mouwse(spelling) front hook on allowing it to slide with heavy pressure to accommodate different sized baits.
