Haida Guaii

Hey so it looks like I'm going to be doing a job in Haida Guaii for 6 weeks+. Just wondering if there is any cellular service up there and with what networks? I've never been to QCI so I'm also wondering the cost of accommodation and tobacco (I smoke). Any tips would be appreciated.

Correction, the job is the Hospital project in the Queen Charlotte Village.

I lived up in Masset 2 years ago.
At the time, Rogers phones didn't work at all, but Bell and TELUS did in the towns.
The sea raven motel (http://www.searaven.com/) looked nice, but I never stayed there. It's the only one I remember in Queen Charlotte village.
I ate at the restaurant beside it, and it was really good.
I don't know about smokes.
I loved living there, and would go back in an instant.

The last time I worked in Queen Charlotte City we stayed at Gracies Place. Nice clean rooms and Gracie is a great host.The cell service from telus was good. If you smoke you should bring lots cause they aint cheap! Liquor is not a problem as the gov store is the same price. If you can bring a small tin boat the crabbing is really good right in the bay straight out from the boat launch. Its a really nice place you should have a blast

have heard the mighty Yakun river is producing some legendary steelhead fishing right now, might be worth giving it a rub.

Well i ended up at the sea raven. When they say rain in haida guaii man do they mean it! Were erecting the new hospial here just next door to the motel. What a tease being up here and the boats at home lol

Some of the best river fishing in the world up there in Haida Gwaii, Yakoun, Copper and Tlell, best to check regs before heading out.
